Four Tips How Homeowners Can Rebuild Their Life After A Foreclosure

Apply for a Credit Card

Let's face it, if you are facing the possibilities of losing your home due to a foreclosure and you think that you may never be able to purchase another home anytime soon. Keep reading.

I am going to share with you four steps you need to prepare yourself for that transition down the road. First, if you lost your home because of a foreclosure or you're about to, don't give up. The worst thing you can do right now, is to do nothing.

First: Get a copy of your credit report to see what a potential creditor will see and immediately start making repairs to clean up any negative infractions, stay away from credit repair companies.

Second: While you are rebuilding your credit, start putting together an emergency fund. Start off by saving three months of your mortgage/rent payments and three months of car payments for obvious reasons.

Three: Go to your book store, library or online and start educating yourself on lease purchase. I mention lease purchase because of your temporary credit and money requirements. You can normally get into a house with a small down payment and no credit check. Just be prepared to purchase that property down the road. That's why you need to clean up your credit and who knows, you might start making money with this new found information.

Here are two extraordinary sites for you to visit for more information:http://www.lease2puchase.com and http://www.creonline.com.

Four: Start putting together your financial plan. Set goals for your future retirement, college for you or your children. Start a business. Find a financial planner one who will work with you and his motivation is not to sell you something you don't need, just so he can get a commission.

When the time comes in a few years after you have put a down payment on your lease purchase home, rebuild your credit, raise your credit score; set aside an emergency fund and designed a financial plan, then you will be ready to buy your next home.

Credit Traps Snag Consumers
Nearly 20 years ago I worked for a small consumer advocacy organization in Washington, DC. Each week we received sacks full of mail from consumers across the country requesting our list of credit cards with low interest rates and no annual fees. If you wanted a low interest rate on a credit card back then, you often had to apply to a bank in Arkansas where interest rates were capped by state law. Those were the good old days. Now, interest rates range from zero percent to a high 39 percent. It's tougher to find (and keep) a good credit card than ever before. That's because there are many new traps that can snag unsuspecting consumers. At the top of the list is the "universal default clause" which allows issuers to monitor you credit report and raise your rate if you are late on any bill that app...(related: Apply for a Credit Card)

Minimum Credit Card Payments To Rise
For years, major credit card companies have allowed cardholders to make minimum payments of 2% of the outstanding balances on their credit cards. Having customers pay the minimum doesn't reduce the balance by very much, but when the 18-30% interest rates that many credit cards charge is applied, the result is a profitable ones for the banks that issue credit cards. A balance of $1000 can take nine years to pay off at 20% interest if the borrower only pays the minimum due each month.Clearly, it is not in the best...(related: Apply for a Credit Card)

How A Credit Card Can Be Your Friend
We have all heard countless stories of people over theirheads with credit card debt-maxing out every card they own, then only being able to afford the minimum monthly payment. High interest payments shackle people to their debt foryears, not to mention the significant income drain thefinance charges have on their families. It is unfortunate that many Americans must live with thisreality, since with some financial discipline, this delimmais avoidable. When a spending plan is developed andfollowed, a credit card becomes no more dangerous than anyother form of payment. When credit card bills are paid in full each month, creditcard fees and finance charges do not accumulate.
